Counterculture, Gen-Z, Arizona Girl Stands for Femininity & Life

Being a counter-culture feminist in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s meant pushing abortion, unrestrained sexuality, and singleness. For many young women today, being counterculture means longing for a more traditional view of femininity, including marriage and motherhood.

For those of us promoting the cause of life for many years, it’s important to hear how younger generations view these issues. In this blog, hear from Eden Vandenboom, a high school senior, honor student, award-winning writer and speaker. She also volunteers time educating girls her age about the sanctity of life and the dangers of abortion.

City Planners Want to Change Your Family Life

Now that fall is here, we’re happy to walk or ride bikes to local businesses. But mayors and city planners across the state are quietly setting the stage so eventually you’ll be forced to rearrange your life entirely—walking or biking to work, school, sports and errands—even in the middle of July! Or the alternative is paying fees for the ‘privilege’ to drive your car. Is this fair? Is there valid reasoning? How will this affect your every day?

Profile of a Perfect (Even a Reluctant) Woman of Action!

Can you list more than a few worthy reasons you’re frustrated with your government, your workplace, or your kids’ schools?... Now can you list any truly worthy reasons why you can’t do something to fix them? If we’re honest, you can do SOMETHING in at least ONE area that bugs you. And it would, indeed make at least a small, but significant, difference!

We’re inspired by so many of you Arizona Women of Action!! This week we asked Alison Klotnia (a busy woman probably like you) to tell us WHY she got fired up and decided to take on her local school district. How did she figure it out? What were the hurdles? And how did she feel when her battle plan came together?

Will Arizonans Talk About ‘Transing’ Children?

Will Arizonans Talk About ‘Transing’ Children?

Ask yourself, just five years ago were many people talking about transsexualization, as it was commonly called then? Now with media and corporate messaging, you’d think half the population suffers from ‘gender dysphoria’. Serious science reveals this is NOT biological, but rather a social trend, and often a political and marketing campaign.

But it’s too serious to be dismissed as a fad. This social contagion, the ‘transing’--especially of children—is destroying their bodies, causing chemical and surgical castration, life-long dependence on drugs, and emotional and mental breakdown. Not to mention the devastation being done to families.

Saving Women's Sports: A Coach's Perspective

In Arizona Women of Action’s defense of all the girl and women athletes, it’s important to hear from the coaches. Coach Carrie also wants to defend female sports, and she shares her experience this week in our blog. Thank you, Coach! ~ Kim

My name is Carrie Cox and I am a retired high school coach. I had the awesome honor to be inducted in the Athletic Hall of Fame at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park, Illinois, the school I taught at for 35 years. I now live in Scottsdale and I am the 1st Vice Chair for GOP Legislative District 3.

At my induction ceremony, there were retired coaches, current coaches, the Athletic Director, school administrators, Principal, school board members and the District Superintendent. After the ceremony, many current coaches reached out to me to say thank you for having the courage to address this issue and speak for what they are feeling. I’ve been asked to share my speech and am grateful for groups like Arizona Women of Action that can share my story….Enjoy!

Know the Truth: Guarding Kids’ Innocence is NOT Banning Books

There’s a lot of shockingly inappropriate material being pushed on kids—and I’m not referring to online porn or apps. It’s shocking because of who is disseminating it— those institutions we used to trust: schools and public libraries.

Of course, this is a complex and nuanced topic requiring wisdom and discretion. We must ultimately guard our precious children, but also our freedom of speech. Thankfully we have the benefit of hours of research by our Senior Advisor, Adrienne Johnson! She shares what’s really going on with libraries, as well as useful links for resources and ways to contact public officials. This blog is a WEALTH of information. Let’s take our libraries back for everyone—to lift up knowledge, wonder and creativity, and stop the degradation. ~ Kim

School ‘Bonds & Overrides’- Helpful, Harmful or Wasteful?

We all want good schools that serve kids and families, but what do we make of the regular requests for more money through bonds and overrides (B&O)? Where’s the money going? What happened to the money from the last election? Are kids learning more? Is there accountability from the school district to the parents and citizens? Am I helping or harming the kids at my neighborhood schools when I vote to pay more of my taxes to their administrators?

We’re glad to have Matt Beienburg, Education Director from Goldwater Institute as our guest blogger this week! Matt explains the what Arizonans are funding so we can be informed voters. … Please read and share this blog. ~ Kim

ASU Allows Karl Marx But Not Uncle Sam

Ann Atkinson wrote our guest blog last week about ASU limiting free speech on their campus. One group was harassed and libeled by Barrett Honors faculty for a ‘Health, Wealth & Happiness’ event with Dennis Prager and Charlie Kirk. ASU ultimately dismantled the entire T.W. Lewis Center of Personal Development for daring to spread such ‘dangerous ideas’.

Two days later, AZWOA posted a clip of an ASU Student promoting the Socialist Revolution club (Yes, it is an actual ASU-approved club).

Parents—Here’s YOUR Back-To-School Syllabus!

If you’re lucky enough to be here in Arizona this week enjoying the ‘dry heat’, you know it’s classic August. You’ve also probably noticed those poor kids back in school, walking along sidewalks at 3pm. (I have no idea why we don’t start after Labor Day, like when I was a kid!)

Teachers have been prepping to welcome classrooms full of eager (and not-so-eager) students. Kids have gotten their backpacks, and maybe some new shoes…. What can we parents and citizens do now? (Even if you have no kids at the schools in your area, just remember those are your future leaders. Those are the future friends and colleagues surrounding your kids and grandkids.)

“How Home Schooling Changed Us”: Common Concerns & Answers from One Mom’s Journey

If you’re paying attention (and I know you are because you’re getting this email), you see the constant struggles between parents and educators over 1) who has authority and the best interests of children, and over 2) what they should learn in school versus what is literally propaganda or obscene material. This reality forces an honest question every good parent must make: “Should I home school?” Even if schools were perfect, there are still good reasons to teach your kids at home. (I did it with my five kids for three years, and they were some of the best in our family!)

Why Don’t More Women Take a Stand for Girls?

As many of you know, Arizona Women of Action has joined the fight to defend the “Save Women’s Sports Act”, the law enacted in 2022 to protect the fairness and safety of Arizona girls and women in public sports. We, along with three individual moms, have filed a Motion to Intervene in a lawsuit against our state (represented by our State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tom Horne, because our Attorney General refuses to defend Arizona law). We believe someone needs to stand up for girls and women in Arizona—and who better than Arizona Women of Action, representing some 17,000 followers and subscribers, a majority of whom are women; many moms and grandmothers.

Which Raises a Healthier, Thriving Child—Government or Strong Family?

With growing intrusion by schools, government and healthcare, a shift is taking place---either children are raised by strong families, or they will be raised by government. Which is better for children? Which is better for a thriving, caring society? Government makes a poor parent. This is why natural, healthy, strong families are one of the top goals of Arizona Women of Action.
