We’re Helping Spread ‘SALT and Light’!

Many of our readers are Christians, and they try to serve and trust Jesus with all aspects of their life. If this is you, maybe you attend church regularly and even participate in a Bible Study. And the fact that you receive AZWOA’s emails means you know the importance of being civically engaged within your community! But I’m sure you know MANY fellow Christians who don’t vote or engage in the public sphere at all. (Many in other faith communities feel a similar tension.)

A 2020 article estimated 25 million Christians do not vote in presidential elections, 65 million do not participate in local elections and 15 million are not registered voters. And yet they have strong values we all likely agree with.

Many Christians feel uninformed or unable to take the power and love of Christ into the public sphere outside their churches and study groups. Others believe that God is in control and their trust in Him is enough to right the ship. The result is people in our communities suffer from the lack of salt and light.

Arizona Women of Action is excited to announce a new movement to bring salt & light back into our communities! Our sister organization, Women for Families and Freedom, is launching SALT in May. SALT stands for Strategically Advancing Love & Truth! From a Biblical foundation, rooted in the call to love our neighbors, SALT will help connect and activate the faith of Christian women directly to the issues where they live.

“The people who know their God shall stand firm and take action” - Daniel 11:32

We invite you to learn more about SALT. WE NEED SALT LEADERS to Strategically Advance Love & Truth within your communities! We make it VERY easy, and groups meet only once per month! If you’re a Christian, please read below to find out how you can get involved, and watch this short video that will give you everything you need to know! We look forward to having you become part of our SALT group!

What Is SALT?
SALT is a monthly study that builds faithful gatherings of Biblically and Civically engaged Christians through their churches, Bible studies and small groups. Informed, connected Christians can strategically impact their communities through love and truth.

SALT study/discussion groups can easily be incorporated into your current Bible studies, or they can stand separately -- whether in homes or at your church!

Why Is It Important To Connect Faith And Civics?
Many Christians are uninformed on cultural happenings and hesitant to apply their convictions and values in the public sphere, so their voice is silenced.  People in our communities suffer from the lack of salt and light.

Why Should Christians Engage?
* Because Jesus calls us to bring His Love and Truth into the world

-"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” (Matt 5:13)

* Because the world is hurting from lack of Love WITH Truth

We see the fallout in our schools, our culture and our government. All people need prayer.

—"I urge that requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made in behalf of all people, for kings and all who are in authority so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. (1Tim 2:1-2)

* Because God is displeased when justice, righteousness and truth are missing. And WE become prey to evil if we turn away:

- “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has stumbled in the street, and uprightness cannot enter. Truth is lacking, and one who turns aside from evil, makes himself a prey. Now the Lord saw, and it was displeasing in his sight that there was no justice.” (Isaiah 59: 14-15)

* Because those in the Spirit bring the power of God to heal and accomplish His will:

—“'Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of armies.” (Zech 4:6)

Is SALT About Politics?
No, SALT is Biblical, not political! It’s based in scripture and prayer, while informing and engaging in the issues hurting your community, from a Christian purpose. Some of the topics we will cover are: Discussing why & how Christians should engage civically, using wisdom in the Primary Election, Christians’ civic duty to vote, & bringing love & truth to the abortion issue.

Who Should Be A SALT Leader?
Any Christian can lead a SALT group. We make it easy, so leaders spend less than 4 hours per month. If you currently lead a Bible study or are an active participant in a Christian study group, the SALT content can be incorporated into your curriculum.

We will provide you with all the content to lead these monthly meetings!

By linking faith and civics, individuals and communities can ensure that their actions in the public sphere are not only effective but also reflective of their beliefs and values.

How Will SALT Impact My Community?
SALT groups will revive communities through strategic prayer and practical advancement of love and truth. Christians will connect, creating a powerful release of the Holy Spirit around them.

How Do I Start A SALT Group?
