Enough is Enough: A Pledge to Parents

Once you see the latest National Report Card on Education, you’ll want to know about a simple way you can help families and students right now! Our friend Christy Narsi has made it easy for busy women like you and me! She’s the president of a charter school in Phoenix and they just adopted a fantastic pledge that puts transparency, parents and education at the forefront and she’s sharing their “Pledge to Parents” so everyone—no matter where their child goes—can challenge their school too.

Christy believes that “if defending childhood, teaching math, and telling the truth are now considered “bold”—that says more about the state of education than any test score ever could.”

Enough is Enough: A Pledge to Parents

Let’s stop pretending. Everyone knows America’s schools are failing our kids. You don’t need a PhD in education to read the Nation’s Report Card and see the truth—it’s not just bad, it’s embarrassing. Arizona, in particular, has become proficient at one thing: falling short.

As president and state charter representative of Freedom Academy K–8 Charter School in North Phoenix, I decided we weren’t going to play that game anymore. While other schools double down on ideology, we drew a line. I called on our board, staff, and parents to choose a better way. With clear eyes and full conviction, we staked our ground on three things:

  • Defending childhood (because kids deserve to be kids, not political pawns)

  • Reclaiming academic excellence (because math and reading are essential life skills)

  • Restoring trust in education (because parents aren’t the enemy)

Here’s the bottom line: parents have a right to know what their kids are learning, and schools have no right to keep it from them. That’s why I worked with Independent Women’s Voice to draft the first-ever Pledge to Parents©—a model of what real accountability looks like.

On August 27, 2025, Freedom Academy became the first school in the country to sign it. In short, we pledge:

  • We will focus on core subjects like math and reading—not political agendas.

  • We will never coerce a child to hide information from their parents and we won't hide information from parents either.

  • All curricula and library materials will follow federal obscenity law (and plain old common sense!)

  • Only the U.S. and Arizona flags will fly on school grounds.

  • We acknowledge biological reality. All policies for sports, bathrooms, locker rooms, and overnight trips will be based on biological sex—not self-declared identity.

  • Students will learn America’s full history—the good, the bad, and the brilliance of its founding principles.

  • We won’t play doctor or mental health specialist. No medical, social, or mental health interventions without parental consent.

  • Extracurriculars—from sports to clubs—require parental approval.

  • We won’t force students to violate their religious beliefs in thought, word, or deed, nor will we compel students’ speech with mandated language.

  • We are committed to equality and will put in place merit-based policies.

This isn’t a PR stunt—it’s a reality check. Schools are supposed to partner with parents, not replace or sideline them. Schools should be educating kids, not indoctrinating them.

Parents deserve to know their tax dollars are funding schools that:

  • Won’t lie to students about biological reality,

  • Won’t lie to parents about their kids, and

  • Won’t lower the bar to excuse failure.

If schools can’t handle that level of accountability, maybe they’re in the wrong business. Freedom Academy is proud to be in the right one. Click here to learn more about Freedom Academy or call them at 602-424-0771 to schedule a tour!

I am calling on schools across the country to join us. Because if defending childhood, teaching math, and telling the truth are now considered “bold”—that says more about the state of education than any test score ever could.
