May Spotlight: Every Woman of Action Makes a Difference!
This month we’re proud to feature Lisa Fink, a long-time friend and ally in our mission to protect kids, parents, education—and girls’ sports! She was with us in our Motion to Intervene in the Save Women’s Sports Lawsuit. (More context in this press release) Lisa has been a strong voice for Arizona women and families for many years.
We need more Arizona Women of Action to answer the call to engage—at any level. YOU, like Lisa, will have a powerful impact on Arizona for good! Here's why she said YES, and what she’s learning while serving as a current Arizona House Representative …
Tell us about yourself, family, hobbies and interests. Feel free to include information about Protect Arizona’s Children Coalition.
My husband and I have six children (plus another one in heaven) and two grandsons. I was a stay-at-home mom for 25 years. During that time:
Served as state legislative coordinator for my professional organization
Served as chairman of the Arizona State Constitutional Commemoration Committee
Helped start a top-rated charter school (I currently serve as board president)
Member of Mommy Lobby AZ which worked to stop Common Core, uphold parental authority, promote school choice and data privacy
Serving as president of Protect Arizona Children Coalition (Mommy Lobby AZ is a coalition partner) which seeks to stop comprehensive sexuality education and support parental rights
Assisted in several political campaigns.
Currently, I work as an integrative and functional dietitian and a consultant dietitian for long term care facilities.
Why did you decide to run for the legislature?
I have had people ask me for years about running for office. I always said no because I had young children. With the most recent redistricting, both of my representatives were term limited out and almost all of my children had graduated.
I was still reticent to run but my husband gave the final push to make the decision official.
I have grave concerns about the future of our country. We need to return to correct principles that our country was founded upon and protect the family as the most important societal unit for the well-being of the future generations.
What is the biggest thing you learned as a State House Representative? Any major surprises? I learned that even though I had done what I thought was necessary to have the foundational knowledge to be an effective legislator, I still have much to learn.
You sponsored an impressive number of bills in your first session, many of which intended to protect kids. What bill are/were you most passionate about?
I don’t have a particular bill that I was most passionate about. Almost all of my bills were in the following categories:
Informed consent/vaccines
State sovereignty through nullification bills
Consent of the governed (Declaration of Independence)
DCS policies/family court
HB2062 would have defined sex-based terms for clarity in policy, statutes and data collection and we thank you for sponsoring this bill. What was the motivating factor behind proposing this bill? Were you surprised that Governor Hobbs vetoed it? I remember in a meeting with Cathi Herrod at the Center for Arizona Policy before the 2024 legislative session. I presented the bill language from the Independent Women’s Forum. Senator Sine Kerr sponsored the bill in 2024. That bill did get vetoed but I wanted to continue the fight. I worked with Independent Women’s Forum this session to put the bill through. The reason for the bill is that if we can’t define male/female, mother/father, then how do you define who is a parent, then how can we defend parental rights and the integrity of the traditional family. Our culture and country will collapse if we don’t defend the family. I was not surprised that Governor Hobbs vetoed the bill but public sentiment is not on her side.
Do you have any advice for someone thinking of running for office?
Studying the US and Arizona constitution, Declaration of Independence, Federalist Papers and other great thinkers. Many times, policies are moved forward on emotion or what “sounds good”. It is imperative that we base our decisions on correct and enduring principles.
Studying Communism. This background information has helped me understand the tactics of those who seek to undermine the family and our republican form of government. This knowledge has helped me to be able to stand against those attacks and convince others to join me.
