Children in CO Sacrificed to Politics —Are AZ Kids Next?
Not long ago, Colorado was a conservative, common-sense state that protected children, and their parents’ rights to raise them. But now Colorado is ruled by Democrats in both state houses, and its far-left Gov. Jared Polis who just signed the first of two significant bills into law, making Colorado the premier ‘trans sanctuary state’. That’s why every state should be alarmed.
When leftists control the state, the children belong to them. And political strategists from the left consider Colorado ‘The Blueprint’ for every other ‘red’ state in the nation.
“The trans lobby is targeting our vulnerable kids and grandkids, regardless of where you live, telling them they have safe haven here in Colorado, protected from the reach of anyone who doesn’t agree with them,” according to Glenn Stanton in this important article in The Federalist. Colorado now “defines child sterilization as ‘medically necessary’ and punishes anyone who opposes it.”
Two bills were strategically introduced to advance the trans lobby. Reported by Rocky Mountain Voice: Colorado’s gender bills sideline parents and rush kids into harm. HB 25-1309 (awaiting the Governor’s signature) ensures all health plans pay for every kind of trans surgery and hormone treatment, pushing children into lifelong experimental medical patients.
HB 25-1312 will muzzle concerned adults who refuse to affirm (thus harming) confused kids. The bill underwent last-minute rewrites over citizen outrage that parents could lose custody, and teachers could lose their jobs for not fully submitting to a child’s denial of his or her natural biology. Though explicit penalties to parents and teachers were struck from final language,” the law still makes such things as ‘misgendering’, ‘deadnaming’, or failing to use one’s new ‘chosen name’ fully punishable violations under state law. Fewer, seemingly safer words. Same result.”
HB 25-1312 is so radical that even California Gov. Gavin Newsom refused to sign a similar bill, and gay advocacy groups in CO pulled their support over concerns there could be “legal backlash”.
This law will require teachers and any public employee to lie to children or adults, and defy their own conscience, in so that they ‘affirm’ another person’s desire to ignore reality: Colorado Trans Bill Called a ‘Legal Requirement to Lie’
Shaina Cole’s piece in Rocky Mountain Voice summarizes the big picture from both sides of this debate (emphasis mine):
“When paired with HB 25-1309’s medical mandates and HB 25-1312’s custody provisions, a troubling pattern emerges: educational influence primes children for gender-affirming care, and state policy ensures its execution, sidelining parents at every turn.
The American Academy of Pediatrics advocates for individualized care tailored to each child, yet Colorado opts for a uniform approach that may hasten permanent choices for youth ill-prepared to make them.
These bills, though rooted in compassion, cast a shadow of unintended harm—children burdened by the physical toll of premature treatments, families destabilized by judicial overreach, and parental authority replaced by state authority.”
Thankfully, a lawsuit has already been filed by Protect Kids Colorado and others (with more expected). Share this blog with everyone—especially those in Colorado.
